Rose Creek Abelia, also known as Abelia x 'Rose Creek', is a compact, semi-evergreen shrub that is prized for its attractive foliage and delicate flowers. It is a hybrid cultivar of Abelia, which is a genus of about 30 species of shrubs and small trees native to Asia and Mexico. Rose Creek Abelia typically grows to a height and width of 3-4 feet and has glossy, dark green leaves that turn purplish-bronze in the fall. Not only is the foliage unique and beautiful, but the stems themselves give a great contrast with their reddish-crimson pigment. In the summer and fall, it produces small, bell-shaped, pinkish-white flowers. It has an exceptionally long blooming period, May until frost. This shrub is versatile and can be used in a variety of landscaping applications, such as borders, foundation plantings, or as a low hedge. It is also suitable for container gardening. Rose Creek Abelia prefers well-drained soil and partial to full sun. Grows in USDA zones 6 to 9. Provides excellent seasonal interest. Rose Creek Abelia is known for its dense, mounding habit and its ability to retain its foliage well into the winter months. It is low-maintenance, making it a popular choice for both novice and experienced gardeners alike.
